The City of Toledo Department of Public Service is collaborating with Stickney Recycling, who was named as Cooperating Enterprise for the successfully-funded 2013 Ohio Environmental Protection Agency Market Development Grant proposal. The approved grant proposal asked for financial assistance not to exceed $200,000 while providing a local match, which will be paid back by the private sector through revenue sharing. This logical partnership changes scrap tire distribution flows, saves taxpayer dollars and enhances revenue for a local firm. Of the twenty-three (23) applications submitted, twelve (12) were approved for funding. Our proposal was at the limit for its category and is the only award addressing scrap tires.
